CHECK IN
Upon entering BIMA for either of the Friday or Saturday night auctions, you will receive a bid number for bidding on Silent and Live Auction items. Bid numbers are
assigned per household.
SILENT AUCTIONS
The minimum bid and prescribed raise for each item is written on the bid sheet by the item. To be valid, bids must comply with these amounts and be legible. To
place a bid, write your bid number next to the amount on the bid sheet. Doing so constitutes a legal contract to purchase that Silent Auction item at the price you stated
if your bid is the winning bid. The last (highest) valid bid entered at the moment the section closes will be the winning bid. A bid may not be crossed out once entered
on the form. A Maximum Guaranteed Bid is stated on each bid sheet. By placing your bid number in this box, the bidding closes, the item is yours and will be available
(see Pick Up instructions). The Auction Committee reserves the right to withdraw any item at any time without notice before the actual sale. In the event of a dispute, the Executive Director (representing the Auction Committee) shall act as final authority in determining the winning bid.
LIVE AUCTION
When bidding, please hold up your bid number toward the auctioneer. The Live Auction will continue until all items are sold. If a group is bidding on one item, please
designate one person to place your combined bid. Auction items will be awarded to one purchaser only. A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to
purchase the item.
CONFIDENTIAL ABSENTEE BIDDING
All Saturday ticket holders are eligible to place absentee bids on auction items. Eligible absentee bids must be placed using the Absentee Bid Form available on Friday
or upon request. Absentee bids for the Silent Auction items will be placed 20 minutes after the doors open for Silent Auctions. Bids are kept and placed by a small
(confidential) team. Bidder will be notified within 24 hours if their bid wins the item(s). Live Auction absentee bids can be placed by a dedicated BIMA staff person or
volunteer who will bid in increments (up to your max amount) as requested by the auctioneer only following another legitimate bid from an auction attendee. Absentee bids are kept confidential. Contact Peter Raffa at peter@biartmuseum.org, or 206.641.1747 (cell) for questions.
PAYMENT
All items must be paid for by the end of the evening unless other arrangements have been made at or prior to check in. For your convenience, we provide an Express Pay option so that you may pre-register your credit card. We gladly accept Cash, Check, MasterCard, American Express, and VISA.
